Clean Your Dentures Daily

To extend the life of your dentures, you should brush them gently every day, just like your teeth.  To brush your dentures, use a specifically designed denture brush. These are made for the cleaning of dentures. They are stiffer than conventional brushes to get into tiny crevices without the possibility of pushing the gums away. Use the brush with clean water on all surface areas of your dentures, being attentive not to bend or break any attachments. 

You will also want to utilize a specially formulated denture cleanser for soaking. While soaking your dentures is a good way to clean them, you still need to brush them to remove any existing plaque.

Treat Your Dentures with Care

When handling your dentures, it is crucial to do so with care. Dentures can break apart if they fall onto a hard surface. A good example of this is when you are brushing your dentures. If you do so over an empty sink and then drop them, the contact with the hard surface of your sink could result in them breaking. You can mitigate risk by partially filling your sink with water and then having a towel laid out to lay your dentures on to dry. 

Another way you can care for your dentures is to let them soak in either cool water or a cleaning solution when they are not in your mouth. This will prevent them from drying out. An important note is to never soak your dentures in warm or hot water as it could result in your dentures warping.
