If you want to find the right dentist for your family, there are several things that need to be considered, including whether they see patients of all ages. Dr. William Proffitt of Proffitt Dentistry in Marysville, Tennessee, works with his team to provide a welcoming environment for all his patients. His top priority is to provide the highest quality dental care to every patient who visits his office. As a good dentist, he takes responsibility for building a foundation of trust, compassion, and respect. Below are some things to consider when choosing a dentist in your area.
1. Friendly chairside manner – The best way to alleviate anxiety and nervousness is to have a friendly chairside manner. A good dentist always greets their patients with a smile and a kind word. You want a dentist who will explain what they are doing. It’s important that all your questions are answered and you feel comfortable and relaxed before the dentist starts to work. This will allow the procedure to go forward smoothly and efficiently.
2. Listens effectively – One of the best qualities of a good dentist is that they listen effectively. It’s one thing to be able to tell a patient about the procedure and care they will receive. It’s also important that a dentist listens to a patient’s fears and concerns. Once they understand what a patient is most concerned about, they can discuss options and ways to prevent future issues. Communication is key and is extremely important for building a relationship based on trust.
3. Offers a full listing of services – When you have a family, the last thing you want is to add to the list of your healthcare providers. You want to keep things simple and find one dentist to take care of all your family’s dental needs. From general dentistry to cosmetic and restorative procedures, a good dentist will be able to provide all the services your family needs. This ensures your family can get all the dental care they need at one office.
4. Offers emergency care – It’s important to find a dentist that offers emergency care services. Emergencies don’t happen on a schedule. Dentists providing emergency care recognize the urgency of prompt treatment. This allows healing to begin before any further damage can be caused or scar tissue starts to form. Quick response after an emergency can prevent tooth loss and keep your smile looking its best.
5. Able to put patients at ease—Good dentists know how important it is to put their patients at ease. From the friendly smile when they walk in the door to the compassion they show while the patient is sitting in the chair, it’s the little things that reassure a patient that things will be okay. Dentists who take the time to get to know their patients understand their needs and try to accommodate them as much as possible.
